Product Details
We've had so many customers ask us for recommendations on which cover to buy that we decided to start selling our own!
We're partnering with a mattress company to bring a high end mattress cover to the DIY market like we have with our pocket coils. This is a non-quilted, slightly stretchy, cover that will won't diminish the performance of your coil layers. It has enough stretch to flex a bit with the coils, but is stiff enough to hold it's shape without some of the significant bulging you'd experience with a some of the thinner stretch covers on the market.
As far as we're aware, this is also the only stretch (i.e. non-quilted) cover available on the market in multiple sizes that also includes a fire retardant barrier.
The outer layer is 75% organic cotton and 25% polyester to give it a bit of stretch. The FR barrier is 100% rayon, a natural production derived from wood pulp
There are NO returns. We stand behind our product 100%. If it arrives damaged, we will replace it or send you the material to guarantee your complete satisfaction.

Helpful Tips
LESS IS MORE with a pocket coil mattress.
You don’t need 18 layers on top of your pocket coil unit. Keep it simple and let the coils work in the way they were designed to. The more layers you add, the more you take away from the isolated support. We tested and liked the following build 8” / 15.5 gauge / 3” QuadMini / 2” latex / a cover with stretch. We've heard from some customers that they like up to 3" of latex/foam on top of the QuadMini, but anything more than that and you're probably wasting your money.
Do I need to put anything between the my 8" QuadCoils and the QuadMini comfort coils?
Nope! Putting a layer of foam or latex between the coils will change the coil performance. We don't recommend it. That said... it's DIY, so You do You!
What should I expect with the firmness?
Due to the coil density and the QuadCoil design, our units run on the firmer side. Assuming you are average weight and a back or side sleeper, we suggest 15.5 gauge. It also works well for lighter stomach sleepers. Our 15.5g is very resilient and you will not bottom out.
If you're an over 180lbs stomach sleeper or over 230lbs back/side sleeper, we also sell a more firm 14.75 gauge coil spring. Please reach out via our contact form and we'll get that ordered for you.
Why is 2 Twin XL's better than buying a King?
There are a few reasons why we think it's better to get 2 Twin XLs when you're building a King mattress:
- Less motion transfer between partners.
- You'll have the option of making one side more firm than the other side.
- It's cheaper to ship 2 Twin XLs than it is to ship a King, so you'll save money.
- As a DIY assembler, you'll appreciate not trying to wrangle a King sized set of coils.
Once the comfort layers are in place and the mattress cover is zipped up, the two twins will be held securely in place and you'd never know it wasn't all one piece.
What is the return policy?
There are NO returns. We stand behind our product 100%. If it arrives damaged, we will replace it or send you the material to guarantee your complete satisfaction. Unfortunately we do not refund or replace units after they have been used. There is too much variability in how someone constructs their DIY build.
Are the units compressed for shipping?
We compress and roll our units for shipping. We do not compress, fold and roll. We realize there are companies who sell single units and do this, but we believe folding a single pocket coil unit will damage the coil and compromise the integrity of the coil. The fold and roll machines were made for finished mattresses, not individual pocket coil units.
You can help us spread the word about our coils!
Selling individual units is a new venture, so if you are completely satisfied and we have exceeded your expectations, please spread the word.
Do you ship outside of the continental United States (lower 48)?
Unfortunately we do not, unless the customer can provide their own shipping label (FedEx, DHL, UPS). We will provide all the shipping dimensions needed. We will not be responsible for the unit once it leaves our facility.
What should I do if I have questions?
Please feel free to reach out, and we can talk about your build, or any other questions you may have.
Do you only sell Texas Pocket Springs pockets?
Yes, we are the ONLY official single unit store for Texas Pocket Springs units.
How long do the coils last before wearing out and need replaced? Do I ever need to flip the coils?
Most people will find our coils last 15+ years. If you find that you're the type that wears out normal mattresses quickly, they should still last you 10+ years. These coils will outlast your other layers 2-3x.
And no, you never need to flip the coils. When a coil compresses, it both sides of the spring experience the same amount of tension. Flipping mattresses has more to do with extending the life of the foam/latex comfort layers, not the springs.
